back to school 2011

i don't like that this blogger only posts 1 pic per line.  grr.
jos had a "7th grade day" on friday.  they got to go to school for 3 hours and make sure they knew where all their classes were and make sure they could get the lockers open.  she was so nervous but ended up having so much fun!

today was the first day for elementary.
Ceej chose to wear all white. yes, all white.  don't get it?  neither do I.
but she sure does look cute.  doesn't she?

josie looked all grown up for her first day.
she's still unsure about what to do, but she's smart, she'll figure it out!

we also started brynn with just a preschool with me.
i've found some workbooks and i'm going to try to work with her as much as i can.
today was so fun, really.
we ate breakfast, cleaned the kitchen (yes she helped, she's a big helper)
and then sat down for some learning.
today was letter A.  we sat there for about an hour, coloring and glueing and cutting.
it was fun.

Little B and the DENTIST

So, this story stems from a few months back....or several months....
Brynn likes milk and only milk and loves to go to bed with a sippy of milk.  i know, i know... DUMB MOM.

late last year i actually LOOKED into Brynn's mouth and SAW cavities... holes. holes. in her teeth.

i got us all cleaning appts and knew that Brynn would not have any of it but had to try, she had to be fixed.

um, no, B would NOT let them even pretend, with the mirror or anything.

so we decided to try a specialist dentist.  Little B does have some sensory issues and thought it might be good if a specialist worked with her anyway to calm her down.  Sis-in-law Sara referred us to a Provo Pediatric Dentist who had worked with Emma.  So I checked out the website and got all that info, which of course sounded all perfect.

I FINALLY called and got Brynn in.  I set it up for a Monday morning, before she got too cranky and too set in her way for the day.  I didn't tell her where we were going, just that we were out running errands, which is normally a task on it's own and she cries over that anyway, but i had to try and see how it went.

we pull into the office parking lot, which didn't even look like a dentists office, and she like sensed it and said "I NOT NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR?"... she just KNOWS things.... creepy.

i reminded her that we had promised that she would get a Woody Doll if she let the dentist fix her teeth and that was what got her in.  I had promised this way back when she met with our regular dentist and she kept thinking that it'd happen but we never took her back to him so now was our chance.  bribery, i know, sometimes you just gotta do it.

we walked in and saw the fun playhouse and the fish tank.  she was already ready for the fun.  Tangled was on and she was immediately mesmerized.  i checked her in and they called us back shortly......

mom begins to panic.

we go in, and they have these cute little chairs just for KIDS!  so jealous.  she plops right down in one, still nervous but she does it.  i squat right down next to her (ow the knees, the things i do for my kidlets)

there is another child in there screaming his guts out (oh yeah and one girl came into the waiting room with a mouth full of bloody cotton and brynn just strared) so brynn just watched him while they tried to take her xrays.  she was nervous and doing her cry/laugh thing, but SHE DID SO AWESOME.  i was seriously so surprised that she actually let them do it.  (she was really distracted by the screaming child she may have been mortified into paralysis by then....

so they took her xrays, no prob.  we go back out into the waiting room until the dr. is ready to see her.  she's doing just dandy, watching tangled, watching the fish, moving chairs around...

we go back in and it's time for the dr to actually look into her mouth.  again, mom begins to panic.

she sits on my lap this time so the she can lay down in his lap for an easy look.

once again, BRYNN DID AWESOME.  he looks in there, tells me she has horrible teeth (in the super nicest way possible) shows me the xrays, gets out his red pencil (red is bad) fills out the chart (RED ALL OVER) and seriously has the most pleasant conversation with me.  as horrible as the outcome of all the work that needs to be done, he was so great.  and he made B feel super ready and comfortable to look into his mouth, which she doesn't even let me do to brush her teeth.

so all in all..... 1 root canal, 1 crown, 1 extraction, 1 spacer (to wait for the permanent teeth) a bunch of shavings and fillings on all the rest of them.  she stores food and doesn't brush well enough (because by golly it hurts her to death!  i'd do the same thing!)

i'm just glad we finally get to work it all out and get her taken care of.  with all the sensitivity issues i have with brynn, i honestly think this is a GINORMOUS part of it and i'm so looking forward to moving on.

so sad for my poor little baby but they'll be able to do it all in one swoop at UVRMC and we'll be good to go.

AND HERE'S ALL HER LOOT FOR BEING SUCH AN AWESOME GIRL!

woody. the only one we could find at toys-r-us... she's going to get a REAL one after her surgery.

her balloon dog. she actually asked for a brown one, like Mac (gma's dog) but lucked out with orange

a new ariel toothbrush

her floss and bubblegum paste

she's a goon, and i love her to death and am so happy we're getting her help!
she has also been SSOOOOSOSOSOOSOSOSOOSOOSOOOO good at taking her medicine.
she'll say "my teeth not hurt" and i'll say that's because you've been taking your medicine! so she'll just drink it up.  sometimes i have to leave the room, no pressure, but she does it.
GOOD GIRL, BRYNN!!!

what a week! highlights 4/3 - 4/10

Started off the week with this.  It was general conference so we just stayed in.

started to tackle the den/scrapbook/craft/junk room....
it's still a work in progress a week later

made some progress on my disney princess dolls
tiana is seriously giving me heartburn.  i just cannot get her dress right.... it may be that i just don't have the right colors... i need to find another felt distributor

although soccer was rained out at the end of the week, tues was a great day for both girls.
chloe's coach didn't want her to be subbed out because she was working so hard, but everyone needs to sit out and she was pooped!
josie gave us all a great show, too.
she scored 2 goals and then played as goalie the 2nd half and surprised us all with her amazing drop-kick.
it was such a proud moment for this crazy soccer mom.
saturday was a clean clean clean day... we're working on getting this house ready to put it on the market.
it's been rainy all week so not a lot more has been going on besides the regular musts.
here's to another great week!
gt out

Ceej's Soccer - the complete 180

has anyone seen CJ?
so after her choosing to play soccer, me coaching her soccer,
and her sitting there picking her nails during soccer...
we took fall off.  JD was out so we thought we'd take a break.
it was up to them to decide if they were really into it.
Ceej chose to play.  i told her she'd owe me $40 if she picked her nose the whole season.
then the time came.
no complaints about the cleats (she's a picky picky shoe girl)
no complaints about the shin guards (she's a picky picky sock girl)
no complaints about going to practice, or even me leaving her there (she's a mommy's girl)
1st game of the season...
this is CJ nearly the entire time:
she chased that ball like i've never seen

she was all over the field

she's got a great kick

i absolutely LOVED watching her last night.  i just want to see her out there doing her best.
wow. i couldn't be more proud.
what a gal!  she's super excited to play again tomorrow!
she was even talking to me about positions tonight... who'da thunk it?
so tonight at JD's game, i sat by Ceej's coach.  she said, "man, that's chloe's great! you've done a good job with her, she's amazing!"  i seriously questioned her and reminded her i was Chloe's mom... not some other girl... she was seriously impressed with what a go-getter she was and said i should be proud of how hard she's working out on the field.
boy, oh boy, my justin bieber-haircut girl is amazing!  i love her!
(and her coach said she's the only girl that can pull off that cut)

soccer soccer soccer

due to JD's lovely elbow incident(s) beginning in 2009....
soccer has been put off for 2 seasons for her.
she was anxious and super super nervous to get back into it
she started as a mid-fielder, she is a runner, after all...

she killed it each time she had the ball and even made some great passes

it was a frigid night, and the cold really got to her.  she had a little breathing episode and had to sit for a bit but was still giving it her all even as she walked across the field crying.
poor thing just couldn't catch her breath.

JD was able to get back into the game, played as a forward, and scored on a penalty kick.
JD just went for it.  she gave it her all, like she usually does.
what a great first game!
tonight's game was super intense.  both great teams.  JD played again as forward and played it so well.
she's got a great coach that really knows how to pump her up and get her going so that she does her best.
YAY JD!

piano festival

the girls did great at festival!  i am so proud of them and all their hard work.
they both recieved superior ratings and i am thrilled!
i'm really impressed with how hard they've been working....
especially JD, she LOVES playing the piano.
CJ is on the verge of quitting and maybe she's convinced to stay on for a bit longer, we'll see!
while trying to convince CJ to stay on and play throughout festival, JD piped in and said, "i used to not like piano but now i love it!" and that was totally on her own.
JD is really doing well.  she can memorize a piece within a week.  she's even been given the week off from her teacher but she's practiced every day.
i'm just so proud at how much they've learned.

piano recital

This year's Spring Recital was great.  The girls both did amazing!  It was a lot of fun.  I was so proud of them.  They knew their songs really well.
