Christmas Cards for YOU v2

Hymns Recital

It was the Hymns recital this past weekend.  The teacher has had a really hard time scheduling this one and we finally got it in! 

JD had broken her arm just as they began learning these songs, so she only played the left hand and her teacher played the right.  She played "The Spirit of God".

CJ played "I Hope They Call Me on a Mission" and struggled a little bit, but I think it's because we came in late and she was rushed up to play it right away.  She didn't really have any time to process what was going on.  I know she can play it and play it well, so I felt really bad that she was rushed.

I am very proud of both of my girls.  They enjoy playing, even though they complain about practicing sometimes.  I'm considering taking lessons myself!

Mum's Bday

It was Mum's bday.  I won't mention how old she is, not that I think it's old, but she may....

I decided to surprise her with Bombay.  I invited all the family and asked everyone to maybe share some memories about her.  It was so great to see the love!  I wanted my mom to know how special she is.  I think we pulled it off!

It was so hard to keep this from her.  I don't keep ANYTHING from my mother!  I told her we had a piano recital, which we did, but it wasn't until later.  We headed down to Bombay where everyone was waiting for us!  G&G Gardner gave her a neat magazine rack to put next to her piano, CJ gave her some gems and I gave her some new gold hoops.  They were so gorgeous!  I think she liked them.

I love my mum!  I was so glad to be able to plan this night just for her.

I'm so proud to be her daughter!

Reflections

I've never been a fan of PTA Reflections.  This year my girls were super excited so I was anxious to actually have them try it out.  But I was not going to do it for them... I wanted it to be ALL THEM...

They put it off, well, Chloe had designed the cutest lego thing but it was broken down after sitting around for a few weeks, and Jos had written a few things down on paper but nothing complete, so it came until the very last minute to come up with something new.  The night before, Chloe scrambled to put together another Gary, from Spongebob... the original was fantastic and creative and this one was a second hand version, with wings and a see-through body.  Josie sat down with Jon and he helped her with a beat and some rhyming and she wrote a poem about her annoyin alarm clock.  She even took a picture to add.

So their projects were done, and I began to fill out the paperwork......... Beauty is........ what does flying Gary and an annoying alarm clock have to do with beauty?  Oh, we make it work!

Beauty is sleep... and my alarm clock takes that away from me!

We got them turned in.  And guess what?  Chloe actually won!  I'm not sure what her competition was.  They must have felt that she was REALLY using her creativity.

We'll see how she does at District!

I just have to say that my reasons for actually letting them do it at the last minute, was because my girls impress me so much with the things they come up with and I will not be one to stifle my children's imaginations and attainable dreams.... attainable meaning fundage & driving distance......

I'M SO PROUD OF MY GIRLS AND ALL THEY ARE WILLING TO THROW OUT THERE!

Retro, again - carving pumpkins

i keep realizing i have left a ton of things unposted... please remember this is for my sake...

LOVE LOVE LOVE carving pumpkins... These pumpkins are from our neighbors.

B started out just coloring hers but was feeling a bit left out... this is her first time carving pumpkins with us.

She LOVED it!!!  She was all about carving and gutting... she then would grab a big wod from the junk pile and put it back into her pumpkin.  Mom helped her carve a cute face.  She was so stinkin' proud!  So was I!

CJ was rearin' to go this year!  They didn't even draw the faces prior to cutting, they just went at it!

CJ made a cyclops... all on her own!  It's strange when your kids decide they can create and do things for themselves... a little scary...  She did an amazing job!!!

JD always adds her scar to hers and stupidly enough, I didn't get a picture of it!  But it'd be right below her left eye.  She's been adding that since the accident happened, so, wow, 5 years.  I love that she makes the pumpkin her and adds things that are her.  I think that shows that she's proud of who she is right now.  I like that.  I'm certainly proud of her.  She's a pretty creative gem!

I did my own.  slits.  easy.  i thought is was actually pretty cute.

Carving pumpkins is always a fun time for us!  Daddy even cooked the pumpkin seeds and we ate them all up!  I think we should make carving pumpkins a Thanksgiving tradition, too... we'll see...

Retro - Red Barn w/Lins

The Red Barn in Santaquin is a pretty cool place.  They take you on a wagon ride to their pumpkin patch and you get to pick your own pumpkin.  I've gone a time or two with my sis-in-laws and last year, started a tradition to go with my BFF, Lins, & her kiddies.  It's great to hang out!  The day was great!  Sun shining and not too cold.

We got on the wagon and B wasn't quite sure what to think, but I think she liked it.

The kids were all good to stay sitting.

My girls had fun.  It was great to see them wander around and try to pick out the best pumpkin.  It's interesting their different likings.  CJ likes the crazy shaped ones & JD likes the perfect ones.

So glad I have a great friend to hang out with.  The kids love getting together.

Max & CJ are great friends and JD is so good with mothering Fin, a little too much!

Oh, and p.s.... they have really good ice cream!  Their pumpkin pie? ... yum...

And of course, we had to add TacoTime to the outing as well... yum... again....
